Born in Bermuda, raised in Ireland, and now proudly Sherbrooke, the one and only Bermuda (aka Dominique Claire Gagnon) is excited to share “Welcome to Bermuda,” the first teaser from Bermudababes – a fresh EP infused with early 2000s girlband and girlpower vibes, set for release on May 10.
With unabashed influences from the Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child, and infused with chill vibes, a sense of letting go, and mom-powerment, “Welcome to Bermuda” is an epic adventure into the mysterious lands of the Bermuda Triangle. It’s a track that effortlessly propels you onto the dance floor as much as it invites you to a chic 5@7 to sip a daiquiri with your girls. Bermuda embodies millennial mothers, inspired by today’s women.
The new EP, Bermudababes, is all about making lemonade out of lemons: Bermuda conquered postpartum depression with the support of her inner circle. The result? Four uplifting, radiant, and festive anthems of mom-powerment. For the first time, Bermuda co-produces the project with her partner-in-crime, Alex Lapointe (The Brooks).
In celebration of the girl power spirit, she has teamed up with a group of talented women: Nadia Hawa Baldé (HAWA B), Mariko Durand (Mariko), and Mélissa Pacifico. She’s also backed by her loyal band of musicians: Alexandre Lapointe, Maxime Bellavance, Jean-Sébastien Chouinard, and Daniel Thouin.
Ariane Zita is a singer, songwriter, and performer—passionate about contradictions and paradoxes, and known for contrasting substance with style.
In 2012, she released her self-titled debut EP, featuring country-folk vibes. Her work caught the eye of Montreal’s Dare To Care show agency, which led to bookings across Quebec, as well as in Germany, Iceland, and Poland. Her first album, Oui mais non—a bittersweet opus blending pop, rock, and folk—was produced by Howard Bilerman (of Cœur de pirate, Basia Bulat, Arcade Fire fame) and came out at the end of 2015.
The year 2016 marked a significant rise in visibility: her track Soyons sauvages was selected for a Choix du président commercial, while Mon cadeau c’est toi was chosen by Telus. She opened for artists such as Les Sœurs Boulay, Cœur de pirate, Kandle, Antoine Gratton, Brigitte (France), Declan McKenna (UK), and Katie Moore. Thanks to the Sodexport grant for promoting culture abroad, Ariane Zita also performed in Europe alongside German artist John Allen. At the same time, she was chosen as the musical artist for the Löle White Tour in Montreal and Toronto.
In June 2018, as part of the Francos de Montréal, Ariane Zita released the EP J’espère que tu vas mieux. Featuring dark, personal lyrics and a completely refreshed sound, this record marks a departure from her folk and country roots, and paved the way for her album Beige released on February 21, 2020.
